Centre opening times

Film Club
UNACC film club returns on Wednesday 5 September a lovely buffet followed by the film “The Greatest Showman”. Please note this is a change of date.

Line Dancing
Dust off the cowboy boots and grab your partner by the hand Elsian has recovered from illness and line dancing will return on Friday 7^th September 2018 Yee-ha!

Big Fun Run
Natalie, Lynda (back permitting) and Roberta will be running the Crystal Palace Big Fun Run again this year on Saturday 27^th October, all funds raised will go towards subsidising the Christmas Party which will held on Friday 14 December 2018, we will get sponsorship forms out shortly, thanks for your support.

Table Tennis Competition
We’re holding a table tennis competition on Friday 21^st September 2018, the winner will receive a beautiful hamper. The cost of entry is £1 per person a list will come around shortly.

Christmas is coming! That means hampers…
The nights are drawing in and Christmas is just around the corner, well not quite but in the office we’re organising what will be the best Christmas Party ever! If you have tins, bottles, smellies anything non-perishable that you can spare please bring to the office, many thanks.

Tunes with a view, UNACC Summer Party
Thanks so much for supporting our summer party to raise funds for UNACC, the night was a great success, we raised just over £600 so well worth all the hard work. Thanks so much to everyone that helped Sheila, Lynda, Giovanni, Ally, Sepi and Daniel we really couldn’t have done it without you.

Ramsgate Trip
Our annual to Ramsgate was on Monday 23^rd July, we had a lovely time and the weather was great, we’re thinking of an overnight trip next year possibly in May so any recommendations welcome.

Line Dancing
Elsian has not been well lately but I’ve spoken with her and she is aiming to return at the beginning of September 2018, we will confirm the date closer to the time.

Tunes with a view! – WE NEED TO SELL TICKETS
To raise much needed funds for the centre, we are holding a summer party and BBQ on Friday 20^th July in the Pavilion Hall. It will be held from 7pm – 11pm and will feature 70s, 80s and 90s dancing music as well as a great BBQ and bar. Tickets are £10 each including a potent glass of Cava Sangria or non-alcoholic cocktail. Please spread the word as much as possible to friends, family and anyone else you think might be interested and encourage them to buy tickets available to buy at www.unacc.org.uk. All proceeds go straight back to the centre to keep it running for you so please support it as much as you can. Thank you!

Ramsgate Trip
Our annual trip this year will be to Ramsgate on Monday 23^rd July, leaving UNACC at 9.30am returning to the centre at 6pm. The trip is £25 providing we get enough people, but may decrease if we get more please sign up and pay Jean Tennent.

We now have fitness classes every day which is brilliant, we need to cover the cost of instructors and room hire so please make sure you attend, as if we need to heavily subsidise classes they will not be able to continue.

New Chef
Sepi is settling in very nicely, thank you so much for all your support for her. Prices will revert to normal on Monday 4^th June, £5 for one course and £6 for two courses. Sepi is very willing to take requests, so if there is something you would particularly like on the menu, please let the office know. We all want to work together to make this a success!

Royal Wedding celebration
Thanks to everyone who came to our Royal Wedding celebration on 18^th May, there was plenty of delicious food and the Pimms flowed freely! Thank you to Sepi, Lynda, Jean, Sheila and everyone who made the event a success, not forgetting Daniel who was DJ for the day! I think everyone will agree that the cakes looked great.

Royal Wedding celebration
On Friday 18^th May we will be celebrating the upcoming royal wedding of Prince Harry with a beautiful cream tea and sandwiches, Pimms, tea, coffee and cakes for the princely sum of £6.

Happy New Year
We hope you had a fantastic Christmas & New Year. I’m sure you’ll all agree we had a fantastic Christmas party in December – wonderful food and entertainment! We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support, and all of the volunteers for giving their time and effort to help run the centre. All the money we raise from events, cards, lunches and snacks, exercise/art classes etc goes straight back in towards the running of the club, and it is only through you supporting UNACC that we can continue to stay open.

Tai Chi
We will be having a free Tai Chi taster session on Tuesday 23 January at 10.30am, it would be great if you would give it a try. With its integrative approach Tai Chi  strengthens the body while focusing the mind, tai chi addresses a range of physical and mental health issues—including bone strength, joint stability, cardiovascular health, immunity, and emotional well-being. Tai chi is especially useful for improving balance and preventing falls.

Line Dancing Classes
We will be starting Line dancing classes on Friday morning 11am – 12pm very shortly, date to be confirmed, we would just like to say a very big thank you to Eve Emmingham for finding the tutor.

Shared Reading Group
The shared reading will return on Friday 26^th January from 10.45 – 12.15.

Centre times over Christmas
UNACC’s last day for the Christmas break will be Tuesday 19^th December, when Leigh has devised a great quiz for everyone to end the year in good spirits. We will re-open on Wednesday 3^rd January 2018.The Centre is open 9.30am – 2.30pm.

Christmas at UNACC
We’re very excited to announce the UNACC Christmas Party will be on Friday 15th December 2017. There will be a wonderful homemade Christmas dinner (menu below), wine and entertainment for only £20. Your ticket will be entered into a raffle to win a prize too! Please let us know in advance whether you want to be added to our dial-a-ride list.

The menu will be:
Leek, potato and parsnip soup or Prawn and smoked salmon cocktail
Roast Turkey with all the trimmings or Individual Veggie Xmas pie with all the trimmings
Christmas pudding or Sherry trifle
As usual, the wonderful Barry and Mike will be donating the wine, for which we are very grateful. Get your name down early as tickets always sell out quickly.

There will be some great bric a brac stalls in the morning, including Leigh’s table with some great prices – everything must go! There will also be a UNACC Christmas quiz with prizes so get your thinking caps on whilst you drink a glass of complimentary bubbles!

Thanks to all who volunteered to help, we’ll go through the schedule with you next week so everyone knows what they’ll be doing on the day.

Film Club
Will be on Friday 8^th December, and as a thank you for all your support over the year, including all your donations to the fun run, we will be showing a Christmas special film for FREE! All you need to do is pay for your lunch on the day, which will be the usual price, and delicious as always. After the meal, sit back and relax whilst you watch “Scrooge” with Albert Finney, along with a complimentary glass of mulled wine and a mince pie. There will also be some Christmas carols sung by the fabulous Chris Wright.  Please see Jean to book your place as soon as possible!
